Cuba Continues to Use 2008-Canoe Island VBS

090513

Dear Friends of Cuba,

It is exciting to see that Canoe Island-Isla Canoa, the Lifeway Vacation Bible School Program we took to Cuba, in 2008, is still being utilized and shared in churches on the island. Read this report from Pastor Alexis, where Canoe Island-Isla Canoa was presented to over 300 children and their parents last week!
Pastor Alexis reports on ‘Canoe Island’-‘Isla Canoa’ Vacation Bible School

Traveling is a word that excites every human being from time immemorial. But for a Cuban, who has always lived on an island, the implication is more than normal. Especially if that involves children, then it leads to frenzy. This allows us to understand why the flood of these small and energetic critters "filled" our Bible School, held in August. They took the trip fully involved, mom and dad had to make typical Hawaiian costumes with local resources. We escorted 309 babes on this trip to Hawaii, through ‘Canoe Island’, and that is not counting an additional 71 adults. The excellent work of 38 leaders allowed us to be transported in time and space to this beautiful island in the Pacific. And what about décor which is worthy to be compared to that of professional theater, accompanied by music, Bible study and missionary stories. At the end of each night, a snack was a prize for each participant. Everything we did and all the people who worked, were links that allowed us to build and enjoy this beautiful and unforgettable experience. Summer is gone, as well as all that it implies, memories and costumes are placed in the closet, teachings of daily life, and in the heart remains the desire to live a vibrant life until the next summer adventure arrives.

Please continue to pray for us as we prepare to go on mission, in November, with a team of 8 missionaries from three different churches. We look forward to seeing what God will do as we spend a week serving alongside our Christian brothers and sisters in Cuba. We are praying for an early confirmation of the Cuban Religious Entry Visas. Cuba para Cristo!

Dr. Victor Samuel Gonzalez and Other Friends from Cuba Visit Summer 2013

August 11, 2013

Dear Friends of Cuba,

Thanks for continuing to pray for our Christian brothers and sisters in Cuba. These last few months in Cuba, have been filled with Vacation Bible School events, youth camps, sports events, and retreats.

Several of our friends were given permission to travel to the USA this summer. A group of our friends are participating in conferences being held at South West Baptist Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas. We thank God for His Provision.

Our friends Elena, Alicia, Jose Enrique, Ruben, Abdiel, Delvis arrived at MIA, last Thursday, and we were able to visit with them. Abdiel had an opportunity to preach at Oasis de Amor Church, in West Palm Beach, on Sunday. Later that afternoon, he attended FBCWPB’s beach baptism with us. We are thankful for JC and Loli hosting Abdiel in their home while he was here.

It was our pleasure to spend time with Dr. Victor Samuel Gonzalez, former president of the Western Cuban Baptist Convention of Churches this week. Dr. Victor Samuel is an oncologist and leads Ve y Dilo Ministries, spreading the gospel of Christ all throughout Cuba. Nidia treated us to a delicious lunch at her home while Victor Samuel was here. Here is a photo of the visit Victor Samuel had with Paulita.

April 2013 Cuba Mission Trip Report

Dear Friends of Cuba,
Praise God for His Provision while we were in Cuba last week!

All of our team members received Cuban Religious Entry Visas and we flew from Miami, on Friday. We knew you were praying for us and we were so thankful. Our team members represented five distinct churches collaborating together sending missionaries to serve in Cuba. We are so grateful for the opportunity to go on mission to Cuba and serve alongside of our brothers and sisters.
Although we faced obstacles in both the Miami and Havana airports, we brought carry-ons and 21 duffle bags of supplies, medicine and resources for the Seminary, for our partners in the churches, the missions, the Baptist Home, and house churches across the island.
God provided opportunities for team members who have medical experience, to minister to many of the residents at the Baptist Home. We visited with our contacts at three of our partner churches during the week. Many pastors and friends came into Havana to visit with us and give reports of how God is working in and around their local churches.

Three of our team members were able to minister to families with children who are suffering from cancer. We are happy to report that two of the moms prayed to receive Jesus as their Savior. That opportunity to share the love of Christ was a direct result of our friends inviting us to take part in their weekly ministry for families who are struggling and need the hope of our Lord Jesus.

What to many may be seen as an obstacle, we saw as an opportunity to share the gospel. One of the vans at the seminary broke down and had to be towed back to Havana. Two mechanics from Mercedes Benz arrived at 8 pm to repair the van. Knowing that they were working well beyond their scheduled hours, we provided supper for the men and gave them items to give to their wives when they returned home that night. One of our team members encouraged them, and let them know how much we appreciated them coming to repair the van. We left tracts outlining the gospel of Jesus with them and are praying that others will come alongside of them to help continue pointing these men to Christ. The vans are crucial to spreading the gospel and are used to access remote areas of Cuba with needed resources and supplies.

Thanks to the generous donations of sports equipment and uniforms from many families and UPWARD Basketball participants, sixty churches have received these items along with soccer balls for Sport Ministry Programs. Twenty six participants from seven churches attended and were trained at our Puppet Ministry Workshop on Wednesday. Thanks to Tom Spencer of FBCWPB, and FBC Orange Park, all seven churches received puppets, training CD’s and a collection of Spanish puppet dramas in order to start Puppet Ministry Programs in their churches.

Thanks for your support and contributions for the April 2013 Mission Trip to Cuba. Please pray with us as we seek God’s guidance in planning for future trips. Psalm 119:105

PTL...Containers delivered and distributed in Cuba!

Dear Friends of Cuba,

Please continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in Cuba.

Praise God for this great news!...All 5 containers have been delivered and contents distributed in Cuba.

... Thanks to the efforts and organizational skills of LM and Doralyn, who partnered with additional individuals and other groups who provided resources and financial support, once again many in Cuba have been blessed with food and other supplies. A total of seven containers have been shipped to our brothers and sisters in Cuba, since October 31. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

The latest report listed 1,000,000 bowls of vegetable soup mix were unloaded in Havana, Friday, February 15. Thanks to so many that have made these containers possible. Earlier, four other containers were delivered to Santiago, Cuba, located on the eastern side of the island, and distributed to help those suffering from the devastation as a result of Hurricane Sandy.

Please continue to pray for partnerships to flourish so many can be blessed by these efforts.

Cuba para Cristo!

Cuba Three Kings Day...

Dear Friends of Cuba,

Happy New Year! *** іFeliz Año Nuevo!

Thanks so much for continuing to pray for our friends in Cuba. Many churches celebrated this Christmas season with special music programs and cantatas. Christmas Eve Services included songs, scripture readings, gospel presentations and candlelight ceremonies. On Christmas morning, many families gathered to worship together and celebrate the day.

Last Sunday, Three Kings Day was celebrated in many countries around the world. One of our church partners sent the attached photos of their Children’s Ministry activities for Three Kings Day. The leaders provided snacks and a gift bag was given to each child. You may see some of the undies, socks, beanies and toys you gave for this effort!

Please continue to pray for the Western Convention of Churches, the Seminary, the Baptist Home, church missions and house churches, in Cuba. We are reminded daily that God is at work in Cuba and people are being radically transformed by the love of Christ.

Check out Cuba 4 Christ on Facebook to see the photos from Three Kings Day!
